Friends Place staff can also design and implement civic education programming for groups. 

Located centrally on Capitol Hill with multiple meeting event spaces and guest rooms, Friends Place is an ideal location for youth, school, or church groups visiting Washington D.C. We are located in a highly walkable neighborhood with easily available bicycle and scooter rentals. It is less than a mile from Union Station, with bus, train, and Red Line Metro access.

Event Spaces

Friends Place has two multipurpose conference rooms. The first-floor conference room, which can hold up to 30 people, can be used for workshops, lectures, mini-concerts, and movie screenings. The first floor is ADA-compliant.

The second floor has a living room that flows into a common area with table and chairs and a kitchen. Up to 20 people can be accommodated in the living room/common area. It is an ideal setting for preparing for a day on Capitol Hill, sharing a time for reflection at the end of the day, or gathering for games or conversations with fellow guests.

The first floor features a kitchenette space with countertops, cabinets, and a sink. The second floor has a kitchenette where groups can store and prepare food. 

In case additional meeting space is needed, Friends Place has access to the conference facilities at the Quaker Welcome Center (QWC), located at 205 C Street NE, a ten-minute walk away. The QWC, operated by the FCNL Education Fund, consists of a well-equipped conference room and parlor. The conference room can accommodate up to 45 people and the parlor up to 10. It has a kitchenette and two restrooms.

Friends Place can accommodate up to 40 overnight guests. Seven bunkrooms are laid out in dormitory style, each with an attached bathroom. The first floor of the building is accessible and features one ADA-compliant bunkroom and bathroom.

The accommodations are simple, clean, and comfortable, offering space for sleeping, eating, and meeting—with outdoor gathering space for small groups.

Cost

Meeting spaces are $100/hr (2 hour minimum required).

Overnight stays are $50/person/night for 1-2 night stays and $45/person/night for stays of 3 or more nights.

A Note About COVID-19 Pandemic Restrictions

To ensure the safety and health of guests, Friends Place on Capitol Hill strictly adheres to the guidelines issued by the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Health Department of the District of Columbia. These recommendations and restrictions are taken into account when evaluating requests for rentals.
