At our Alternative Breaks Leader Summit you will have the opportunity to spend time with fellow breakers, seasoned facilitators, and experienced community partners as we explore the ways that mutual aid, community organizing, and justice-based approaches to experiential learning trips can transform your alternative breaks program.

What to Expect:

Participants can expect to use the space as they would if they were bringing a group for an alternative break—sharing rooms, kitchens, and common areas, pitching in with keeping the space safe and clean, and generally modeling our values of simplicity and stewardship. All guests must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination and wear masks in common spaces when not eating and drinking.  

Who You’ll Hear From: 

Our staff have a combined experience of hosting 437 groups in Washington, D.C., participating in and/or leading 32 alternative break experiences, over 1500 facilitation hours, and 14 years of community organizing, mutual aid, nonprofit, and public service work.
